As I’m writing this, I’m imagining you with baited breath thinking, ‘Please don’t recommend bloody socks again.’ You’ll be pleased that, for now, this is not a socks-centric newsletter (although there’ll be one coming in the future, I’m sure of it)
A few months ago, I started a new ritual. On Fridays, which are often my scheduled days off, I’d put on a comfort show and paint my nails. I know from the outside, it’s just another of the numerous beauty rituals that we often feel pressured to participate in to ‘keep up’ with appearances.
When I had to show up at work, I’d usually paint my nails a milky pink because if they started to chip away, it’d be less noticeable. Then I switched to clear pink-tinted polish for the same reason. Less maintenance.
But this felt distinctly different. Let me tell you why.
